Professional background

Now semi-retired and living between the UK and Italy, I am the immediate past Group CEO (2014 - 2024) of national charity, Friends of the Elderly, which operates high-acuity care homes in England. Before that, I founded, grew and sold (to a group of housing associations) a health and social care provider, Prime Care, with the help of private equity backing.

Areas of Expertise

Career founded in domestic and then global risk management (17 years): policing followed by a decade as a director of Control Risks Group, mitigating anti-fraud and corruption risks, maximising profits, and minimising losses - for high-profile clients around the world.
Latterly engaged in UK-based health & social care executive leadership (20 years and counting) in both commercial and non-profit organisations.
Eight years as Board member (and Vice Chair) of UK Government’s regional development agency, Coast to Capital LEP, also chairing the Newhaven (deep sea port) Enterprise Zone and regional Digital Catapult in Brighton.
Executive MSc in Leadership & Strategy from Bayes Business School, City, University of London (2022).
Currently, Specially Appointed Commissioner of Royal Hospital Chelsea, a UK Public Appointment.
Past Ambassador to the Sussex Community Foundation (fundraising and networking) and Mentor (to prisoners) for the Longford Trust.
